Life Without Social Media

It’s been a week since I deactivated my Facebook account. So far I haven’t really missed it at all. I was expecting to get some sort of withdrawal symptoms but none have emerged so far.

I also logged out from Twitter and Instagram but I didn’t deactivate the accounts. I haven’t yet decided whether I want to keep them or not.

Christmas Is Coming

It’s less than a couple of weeks until Christmas. After a week, the days will start getting longer again. This year has been insanely long and difficult for all of us. I believe 2021 will be much better.

I started in a new job in October and that has kept me busy during the weekdays. I upgraded my home office setup to contain another 5K display, which probably is a bit of an overkill to have. MacOS is not really so great with a multi-display setup but at least I can have my code editor, terminal window and browser visible all the time.

Farewell to WordPress

Originally I set up this site to be able to just post links to different kinds of music I like. I used WordPress.com instead of setting up my own local WordPress instance.

I haven’t been posting much lately, but I hope that by lowering the barrier for posting makes it easier. I don’t want to log in anywhere or use a complicated rich text editor. I’m a developer so I prefer writing Markdown.

Sound that fills the room

There is music that sounds just awesome, regardless of the way you listen to it. Be it from a vinyl record, digital high resolution lossless file or good old C-cassette, we often give highest value to the song itself and the lyrics, not the media.

Steven Wilson – Pariah

I don’t remember when exactly I heard Porcupine Tree for the first time. It was probably in 2003 and they soon became my all-time favourite band. Porcupine Tree are still holding the number one position on my Last.fm chart. The band is currently on hiatus, but the frontman Steven Wilson keeps making wonderful music.
